Lobster Claw nebula, Sh2-157 is an emission nebula in the constellation of Cassiopeia. Part of the nebula surrounding the cluster Markarian 50 is hollowed out by intense stellar wind of its stars, including the Wolf-Rayet star WR57. WR stars are very hot and are generating very strong stellar winds. The nebula is some 11 kly distant, with diameter of about 240 ly. Mrk 50 is a very young open cluster, only 7.5 million years old. It is 11 kly distant, with diameter of about 10 ly. Wolf-Rayet star WR57 is a notable member of the cluster. NGC 7510 is another young cluster, about 10 million years old. It is 11 kly distant, with diabeter of about 15 ly. NGC 7635, the Bubble Nebula is also visible in the image. |
