Dark Shark nebula is a complex of dark and reflection nebulae in the constellation of Cepheus. It is a part of a much larger molecular cloud that spans that constellation. Most prominent are dark nebula LDN 1235 and reflection nebulae vdB 149 and vdB 150. The shark has the length of about 15 ly from head to tail. It is 650 ly distant. Also visible in the image is a faraway galaxy PGC 67671, some 62 million ly distant. |
